BJJ For All Of Life’s Hurdles
Subluxt BJJ is deeper than jiu jitsu. We’re a community of friends, hobbyists, and competitors dedicated to mutual respect and pursuing physical excellence.
Progress through the ranks to become dangerous.
Everyone on the mats is on a journey of self improvement.
No Matter Your Reason – You’ll Find It On The Mats
We’re here to confirm that what you’ve heard about the benefits of brazilian jiu jitsu from Joe Rogan, Jocko, or a dozen other influencers is true. The amazing sport we practice is intimidating to start, but once you get the swing of things the benefits are endless.
You might want to make new friends or you have a drive for one-on-one competition. We welcome new practitioners to our mats in a manner that ensures safety, knowledge, and skills development. Advanced belts will find hard rolls and advanced techniques.

Nearly all martial arts schools charge fees for promotions, or belting ceremonies. We do not believe in taxing students for promotions. Apart from our monthly fees, there is no additional cost.
Yes, jiu jitsu has a ranking system. We promote our students during class, allowing them to be acknowledged for their hard work and success. Our belt progression system is white, blue, purple, brown, black (this is the universal system in bjj for adults). It takes roughly about 10+ years of dedicated training to attain a black belt.
- Arrive 10-15 minutes early to class.
- Wear clean athletic gear for no-gi class (shorts, tight fitting t shirt).
- Wash your hands before and after class.
- Keep nails trimmed, hair tied back and remove all jewelry.
- Always use footwear when using restroom facilities or on hard floor surfaces.
- Well behaved children are allowed off the mats.
BJJ places great importance on the collective effort of training partners, relying on a network effect, and fostering trust is paramount. With any martial art, especially as it is taken more seriously towards competition level, there is always a chance of injury. We are confident to say that, even with the amount of bodily contact in bjj, on our training mats, there is minimal risk of injury.Â
A sore knee, elbow, or finger is known in jiu jitsu but at the hobbyist level there is rarely any risk of serious injury. We vigilantly protect our members from outsiders practitioners whom we do not know of their rolling style.
There are no pre-requisites to join jiu jitsu- physical or experience. If you feel comfortable with an elevated heart rate, want to contribute to our community of mutual respect, and are enthusiastic about trying something new, you are ready to be on the mats.
We teach a curriculum developed by black belt Craig Baker of Subluxt and Victory MMA. The Subluxt style is focused on taking down an opponent from the feet, gaining bodily control on the ground, passing and advancing until a submission can be achieved. Takedowns, positional control, and submissions (chokes and joint manipulations) are the focus of any worthwhile bjj gym. Techniques allow the use of body mechanics in such a way to produce the maximum amount of leverage and efficiency to gain the upper hand against even larger opponents.
The Adult class is anyone older than 14 or approx 120 lbs. We have many in their late 40s and even into 50s. If you can make it onto the mats and want to be there, we will find a way to facilitate your learning.
Jiu Jitsu is a martial art that has taken the world by storm. Nearly all of the professional fighters in the UFC have based their techniques around Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). It’s clearly the most useful martial art in real life applications, more so than Karate, Aikido, etc. Jiu jitsu teaches how to subdue an opponent via joint locks and strangulations. Having said that, it is not a violent sport, in fact it’s more of a gentle art when taught and trained as such- the way we like to teach.
Why Choose Subluxt?
Overcome Your Fears And Master Your Skills
Trying new sports can be intimidating but once you get the hang of it, you’ll wonder why it took so long. The major teachings of a martial art is that dedication and discipline results in mastery. On our mats, you’ll find practitioners who’ve trained for years on end only to find that at the end of each training session they are more humbled than when they walked in.
A Team Of Passionate Instructors
Collectively our head coaches have 20 years of teaching experience at world-class schools. Regularly cross training locally and throughout the nation, our teachers are dedicated to mastery of the art and sharing with our team. Whether careful attention paid to members on the mats in group sessions or on 1-on-1 trainings, you’re guaranteed the best instruction in town.
Train Your Body To Perform
Whether for self-defense, or training to be dangerous, your skillset will improve. If you want to improve your physique or lean down in a fun, interactive, and sociable sport, you’ll find the opportunity on our mats.
Community of Like Minded Students
Everyone on the mats is here to learn humility, share mutual respect, and make friends. We arrive early, stay late, and become lifelong friends who share a similar hobby and passion. Regular events are held for special occasions. We know it’s hard to make friends past high school and work, so we find friends on the mats.
